Katowice
Project: 2014

As a result of the analysis of existing conditions, road systems, pedestrian and bicycle routes, the distribution of center-forming and academic functions, the concept of developing the Academic District is imposed in the quarter limited by: Bankowa St., Warszawska St., Dudy-Gracza St., Roździeńskiego Ave. The presented concept implements this intention and proposes to develop the integration of the emerging district by eliminating the barrier constituted by the Rawa river bed. Thence streets: Św. Paweł, Wodna, Górnicza "pass" to the north of Rawa, and at the interface of the functioning university campus and the new Academic District a central square is created, Agora being the keystone of the entire urban system. This is where the center of gravity of the whole functional and spatial system is moved - opposite the CINIBA building, next to the passage with the Rectorate of the University of Silesia, near the Faculty of Law, in front of the planned Departments: Philology, Biotechnology and Biodiversity, student houses, at the intersection of the east-west axis, where : Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection on the one hand and the designed sports hall on the other, with a north-south axis that connects the area below Warszawska Street with several universities and entertainment zone located there, with the northern culture zone, where Spodek has functioned for years and recently : NOSPR headquarters, Silesian Museum and Congress Center.
