Rostock
1997

It was probably a coincidence, but how beneficial. With my daughter's growing interest in star constellations, nebulae, black holes, quasars and supernovae, the Hale-Bopp comet has appeared.

The atmosphere around the appearing comets is full of contradictions. For the ancients, they signaled changes in weather. Fortune-tellers and astrologists saw in them heralds of disasters, misfortunes and plagues. According to other hypotheses, comets could be carriers of life and a source of invaluable information about celestial bodies far away from us.

For Atelier PS, the task of designing the interior of the headquarters of a German real estate company was like the appearance of a comet, let's hope a happy one. In "Cosmos", as this is the name of the shopping and office center in Rostock, which was rebuilt by the company, the interior was designed in cosmic poetics.

In the renovated and thoroughly rebuilt reinforced concrete shell - the legacy of the GDR construction boom of the 1960s, an unidentified flying object landed at first, which after careful analysis turns out to be a mezzanine with a conference table. Under the mezzanine, there are bosses' command posts, but democratic, not isolated in character, with the same desks as the rest of the agency's employees. The rest of the stands equipped with metal, glass and wood furniture are located on the flooring with a wind rose design. It is a tribute to the port character of Rostock.
