Chrzanów, Piłsudskiego 2 St
Project: 1994 – 1995
Built: 1995 – 1996

Self-supporting, glass wall of the hall, loosely supported on a system of posts with concentrated rods, support heads and even telephones hung on glass panes amaze with ingenuity and reluctance to use catalog technologies. The entire building breathes anti-commercialism, which today, not only in Poland, is a value rarely expressed in architecture. Behind modern form one can find an extremely traditional thought - faith in the power of building craftsmanship, whose existence is eagerly questioned. The authors of the reconstruction cooperate with a team of seasoned contractors of atypical steel structures, which allows them freedom in designing and searching for new solutions. Due to the provocative appearance, the Chrzanow post office enlivens the scenery of a city street performance.

The elements painted in bright colors attract the attention of passers-by. Enclosed in a brightly lit glass cage, customers become actors - voluntary prisoners of architecture. The act of posting a letter or a telephone conversation, thanks to sophisticated scenery, becomes a public micro-event on the scale of a small city. From a place without any expression, a metaphor of communication was created - openness, overcoming barriers and space.
