Urban space project in front od the Old Railway Station and Back Mariacka Street proposed by Atelier PS in the workshop organized by Katowice City Hall and Society of Polish Architects was awarded Second Prize for:
- endeavours in seeking sequency of the Railway Station Square spaces with varied programme addressed to diverse users
- extensive care in architectural accentuation of the crucial and important spots within reworked areas
- focusing on the „closure” of the west wing of the Railway Station Square and perforation of the ground floor of highiest building in the elevation of the street
Execution of the project is envisaged in stages. First will be a ground floor arrangement. Later: covering of the Saint Johns Street parking with a grass terrace and a square closing Dyrekcyjna Street with a membrane tensile structure. Tylna Mariacka Street multistorey parking can be built in stages as well, according to the needs monitored in time.
